Passenger transportation by air | China

Number of passengers carried by air transport in China in 2021 amounted to 440 301 216, which is 5.52% more than in 2020, when it was  417 255 845 passengers. This is the first year of growth after a decline. According to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) statistics, since 1974, the volume of air transport passengers has increased in 620.14 times. The lowest number was recorded in 1974, with a value of 710 000 passengers. The maximum passengers by air transport in China was in 2019, when it reached 659 629 070 passengers. Air passengers carried include both domestic and international aircraft passengers of air carriers registered in the country.
