The general government total expenditure of Czech Republic in 2024 amounted to 148 189 million USD, which is 1.64% less than in 2023, when it was  150 658 million USD. This is the first year of decline after a period of growth. Over the entire IMF data period, since 1995, this indicator has increased in 4.63 times. The lowest expenditure of all levels of government administration was recorded in 2000, when it was 25 237 million USD. The highest general government expenditure of Czech Republic was in 2023, when it reached 150 658% million USD.
General government refers to all institutional units that carry out the functions of government as their primary activity. It includes all levels of government — central, regional (state), and local authorities, as well as social security funds. The general government sector provides non-market public services to individuals and communities and engages in income and wealth redistribution through taxes and transfers.

Total expenditure consists of total expense and the net acquisition of nonfinancial assets. Apart from being on an accrual basis, total expenditure differs from the GFSM 1986 definition of total expenditure in the sense that it also takes the disposals of nonfinancial assets into account.
