Passenger transportation by air | Spain

Number of passengers carried by air transport in Spain in 2021 amounted to 43 440 480, which is 63.57% more than in 2020, when it was  26 557 078 passengers. This is the first year of growth after a decline. According to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) statistics, since 1970, the volume of air transport passengers has increased in 6.84 times. The lowest number was recorded in 1970, with a value of 6 347 400 passengers. The maximum passengers by air transport in Spain was in 2019, when it reached 88 237 165 passengers. Air passengers carried include both domestic and international aircraft passengers of air carriers registered in the country.
