Number of deaths caused by malaria in Ghana in 2023 amounted to 11 464, which is 0.009% more than in 2022, when it was 11 463 cases. It has been growing in this country for already 5 years in a row. Since 2000, for the whole period of WHO statistics, this indicator has decreased in 1.72 times. The highest malaria mortality rate was in 2000, when it reached 19 744 deaths. About indicator
The number of deaths due to indigenously acquired malaria was reported by national malaria control programs to WHO. The number of malaria estimated cases per Plasmodium species was used to estimate deaths after applying a species-specific case fatality rates.
