Number of confirmed malaria cases in Guyana in 2023 amounted to 28 776, which is 38.55% more than in 2022, when it was  20 769 cases. This is the first year of growth after a decline. Since 2000, for the whole period of WHO statistics, the annual malaria case count in Guyana has increased in 1.20 times. The highest number of new malaria diagnoses was in 2005, when it reached 38 984. The minimum of  Guyana was recorded in 2015, with a value of 9 984 cases.

Confirmed cases used were reported through the laboratory, unless indicated by the country that confirmed cases should be used from the outpatient register owing to incomplete or inaccurate laboratory data. Confirmed cases were corrected for double counting of microscopy and RDT where the exact number of double counted cases was known. Confirmed cases include indigenous, imported, introduced, relapsing and recrudescent cases, as well as all species, including non-human malaria P. knowlesi.
