Number of passengers carried by air transport in  in 2021 amounted to 15 547 482, which is 30% more than in 2020, when it was  11 959 214 passengers. This is the first year of growth after a decline. According to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) statistics, since 1970, the volume of air transport passengers has increased in 7.51 times. The lowest number was recorded in 1972, with a value of 1 628 700 passengers. The maximum passengers by air transport in  was in 2019, when it reached 29 093 298 passengers. Air passengers carried include both domestic and international aircraft passengers of air carriers registered in the country.
