Overview

The proved oil reserves of India in 2021 reached 4 605 million barrels, which is 4.11% more than in 2020, when it was 4 423 MMbbl. This is the first year of growth after a decline. According to the Energy Information Administration (EIA) data and BP Statistical Review of World Energy, since 1980, the proved reserves of oil has increased in 1.77 times. The minimum of India was recorded in 1981, with a value of 2 580 million barrels. The maximum proved oil reserves was in 1991, when it reached 7 997 MMbbl.
