Overview
The hydropower energy consumption in India in 2024 reached 0.5635 EJ, which is 4.75% more than in 2023, when consumption volume was 0.5380 EJ. This is the first year of growth after a decline. According to the Statistical Review of World Energy, since 1965, the consumption volume of hydropower primary energy has increased in 8.17 times. The lowest level of consumption in India was recorded in 1965, with a value of 0.0690 EJ. The maximum energy consumption from hydropower was in 2022, when it reached 0.6303 EJ. The Statistical Review of World Energy is published annually in the last decade of June by the Energy Institute (EI). From 1952 to 2022, this dataset on global energy production, consumption, and emissions was published by BP.
