Passenger transportation by air | Italy – yearly data, chart and table

Number of passengers carried by air transport in Italy in 2021 amounted to 2 449 339, which is 68.6% less than in 2020, when it was  7 801 490 passengers. It has been falling in this country for already 2 years in a row. According to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) statistics, since 1970, the volume of air transport passengers has decreased in 2.75 times. The lowest number was recorded in 2021, with a value of 2 449 339 passengers. The maximum passengers by air transport in Italy was in 2007, when it reached 37 830 745 passengers. Air passengers carried include both domestic and international aircraft passengers of air carriers registered in the country.
