The alcohol consumption among adults in Italy amounted to 8.33 litres of pure alcohol per capita in 2022, which is exactly the same as in 2021, when it was also 8.33 litres. . Since 2000, for the whole period of WHO data, this indicator has decreased in 1.20 times. The highest level of alcohol drinking was in 2001, when it reached 10.01 liters per capita. The minimum of Italy was recorded in 2009, with a value of 7.19 litres of pure alcohol per adult.

Total alcohol per capita consumption is defined as the total (sum of recorded and unrecorded alcohol) amount of alcohol consumed per person (15 years of age or older) over a calendar year, in litres of pure alcohol, adjusted for tourist consumption.
