Overview
The proved natural gas reserves of Italy in 2021 reached 46 billion m³, which is 5.61% less than in 2020, when it was 48 billion cubic metres. This is the first year of decline after a period of growth. According to the Energy Information Administration (EIA) data and BP Statistical Review of World Energy, since 1980, the proved reserves of natural gas has decreased in 2.17 times. The minimum of Italy was recorded in 2018, with a value of 38 billion cubic metres. The maximum proved gas reserves was in 1996, when it reached 374 billion m³.
