Number of civil aircraft departures in  in 2021 amounted to 1 585 997, which is 40.23% more than in 2020, when it was  1 130 964. This is the first year of growth after a decline. According to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) statistics, since 1970, this indicator has increased in 2.74 times. The lowest number of air transport departures was recorded in 1971, with a value of 550 400. The maximum in  was in 2019, when it reached 2 450 088 departures.
The air transport data represent the total (international and domestic) scheduled traffic carried by the air carriers registered in a country. For statistical uses, departures are equal to the number of landings made or flight stages flown. A flight stage is the operation of an aircraft from take-off to its next landing. A flight stage is classified as either international or domestic. International flight stage is one or both terminals in the territory of a State, other than the State in which the air carrier has its principal place of business. The air transport data represent the total (international and domestic) scheduled traffic carried by the air carriers registered in a country.
