Passenger transportation by air | Sri Lanka – yearly data, chart and table

Number of passengers carried by air transport in Sri Lanka in 2021 amounted to 871 685, which is 29.72% less than in 2020, when it was  1 240 391 passengers. It has been falling in this country for already 3 years in a row. According to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) statistics, since 1970, the volume of air transport passengers has increased in 8.33 times. The lowest number was recorded in 1978, with a value of 100 000 passengers. The maximum passengers by air transport in Sri Lanka was in 2018, when it reached 5 882 376 passengers. Air passengers carried include both domestic and international aircraft passengers of air carriers registered in the country.
