Overview
Number of deaths caused by diabetes (20-79 years age group) in Sri Lanka in 2024 amounted to 4 160, which is 65.57% less than in 2021, when it was 12 084. Since 2019, for the whole period of International Diabetes Federation statistics, the mortality due to diabetes in Sri Lanka has decreased in 3.72 times. The highest rate was in 2019, when it reached 15 459 diabetes related deaths.
