Air transport registered carrier departures | Low & middle income – yearly data, chart and table

Number of civil aircraft departures in  in 2021 amounted to 9 647 101, which is 12.99% more than in 2020, when it was  8 538 141. This is the first year of growth after a decline. According to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) statistics, since 1974, this indicator has increased in 6.54 times. The lowest number of air transport departures was recorded in 1974, with a value of 1 474 000. The maximum in  was in 2019, when it reached 15 026 145 departures.

For statistical uses, departures are equal to the number of landings made or flight stages flown. A flight stage is the operation of an aircraft from take-off to its next landing. International flight stage is one or both terminals in the territory of a State, other than the State in which the air carrier has its principal place of business.
