Overview
The Overall Global Peace Index Score of Nepal in 2025 was 1.987. In 2024, the index value was amounted to 2.069 points. This is the first year of decline after a period of growth. The lower the score the more peaceful the country. Since 2010, during the full observation period of Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), this indicator has decreased in 1.03 times. The lowest GPI score in Nepal was recorded in 2015, with a value of 1.882. The highest score was in 2011, when it achieved 2.152 points. A composite index measuring the peacefulness of countries made up of 23 quantitative and qualitative indicators each weighted on a scale of 1-5 and measures the state of peace across three domains: the level of Societal Safety and Security, the extent of Ongoing Domestic and International Conflict and the degree of Militarisation.
