Arable land area of New Zealand in 2023 amounted to 520 000 ha, which is 2.44% less than in 2022, when it was  533 000 ha. It has been falling in this country for already 2 years in a row. According to the FAOSTAT data, since 1961, the area of arable land has increased in 1.36 times. The minimum arable land area recorded in 1974, with a value of 367 500 ha. The maximum of New Zealand was in 2021, when it reached 616 000 ha. Arable land includes land defined by the FAO as land under temporary crops (double-cropped areas are counted once), temporary meadows for mowing or for pasture, land under market or kitchen gardens, and land temporarily fallow.
