The general government total expenditure of Philippines in 2024 amounted to 116 087 million USD, which is 7.71% more than in 2023, when it was  107 773 million USD. It has been growing in this country for already 2 years in a row. Over the entire IMF data period, since 1989, this indicator has increased in 15.18 times. The lowest expenditure of all levels of government administration was recorded in 1989, when it was 7 650 million USD. The highest general government expenditure of Philippines was in 2024, when it reached 116 087% million USD.
General government refers to all institutional units that carry out the functions of government as their primary activity. It includes all levels of government — central, regional (state), and local authorities, as well as social security funds. The general government sector provides non-market public services to individuals and communities and engages in income and wealth redistribution through taxes and transfers.

Total expenditure consists of total expense and the net acquisition of nonfinancial assets. Apart from being on an accrual basis, total expenditure differs from the GFSM 1986 definition of total expenditure in the sense that it also takes the disposals of nonfinancial assets into account.
