Employment in services | Papua New Guinea – yearly data, chart and table

The employment in services sector of the economy of Papua New Guinea in 2023 amounted to 53.39 % of total employed. In 2022, the value was  70.01%. This is the first year of decline after a period of growth. Over the entire period of ILOSTAT data since 1991, this indicator has decreased in 1.11 times. The lowest percent of employees in services activities was recorded in 2023, when it was 53.39. The maximum was in 2022, when employment in services share in Papua New Guinea reached 70.01 % of total employment. Employment is defined as persons of working age who were engaged in any activity to produce goods or provide services for pay or profit, whether at work during the reference period or not at work due to temporary absence from a job, or to working-time arrangement.
