Overview
Cropland area of Portugal in 2023 amounted to 1 807 806 ha, which is 0.456% more than in 2022, when it was 1 799 595 ha. This is the first year of growth after a decline. According to the FAOSTAT data, since 1961, the area of arable land (land under temporary crops) plus land under perennial crops has decreased in 1.68 times. The minimum cropland area recorded in 2017, with a value of 1 738 615 ha. The maximum of Portugal was in 1989, when it reached 3 167 000 ha.
