Air transport registered carrier departures | Saudi Arabia – yearly data, chart and table

Number of civil aircraft departures in Saudi Arabia in 2021 amounted to 219 247, which is 51.44% more than in 2020, when it was  144 771. This is the first year of growth after a decline. According to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) statistics, since 1970, this indicator has increased in 8.70 times. The lowest number of air transport departures was recorded in 1973, with a value of 25 000. The maximum in Saudi Arabia was in 2019, when it reached 317 209 departures.

For statistical uses, departures are equal to the number of landings made or flight stages flown. A flight stage is the operation of an aircraft from take-off to its next landing. A flight stage is classified as either international or domestic. International flight stage is one or both terminals in the territory of a State, other than the State in which the air carrier has its principal place of business.
