Overview

Уровень смертности | Того
The estimated death-rate in Togo in mid-2025 amounted to 7.60 per 1,000 people, which is 1.3% less than in mid-2024, when it was  7.70 per 1,000 people. This is the first year of decline after a period of growth. Over the entire period of data from the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs since 1950, this indicator has decreased in 3.16 times. The lowest death-rate was recorded in 2025, when it was 7.60 per 1,000 people. The highest value was in 1950, when the death-rate of population in Togo reached 24.00 per 1,000 people.
The crude death rate is calculated as the number of deaths in a given period divided by the population exposed to risk of death in that period. For human populations the period is usually one year and, if the population changes in size over the year, the divisor is taken as the population at the mid-year. The data is sourced from the UN report "World Population Prospects 2024", with the values for 2024 and 2025 being projections.
Additional infomation: About indicator
Crude death rate indicates the number of deaths occurring during the year, per 1,000 population estimated at midyear. Subtracting the crude death rate from the crude birth rate provides the rate of natural increase, which is equal to the rate of population change in the absence of migration.
