The international outbound tourism expenditure of Tonga in 2022 amounted to 21.40 million USD, which is 12.04% more than in 2021, when it was 19.10 million USD. This is the first year of growth after a decline. Over the entire period of data from the UNWTO since 2003, this indicator has increased in 1.62 times. The lowest annual international outbound tourism expenditure recorded in 2003, when it was 13.20 million USD. The maximum value was in 2019, when the expenditure of outbound tourists from Tonga reached 44.00 million USD.
These values come from a new data collection process using a single questionnaire. Since the new processing system is still being phased in, some data points may not completely reflect the final standards yet.
