Crude steel production of South Africa in 2024 amounted to 4 700 000 tons, which is 3.51% less than in 2023, when it was  4 870 998 tons. This is the first year of decline after a period of growth. According to the World Steel Association data, since 1970, the volume of steel production has increased in 1.01 times. The minimum production of crude steel was recorded in 2020, with a value of 3 876 500 tons. The maximum in South Africa was in 2006, when it reached 9 721 000 tons.
