Overview
Cereal crop production of Zambia in 2023 amounted to 3 658 966 tonnes, which is 19.7% more than in 2022, when it was 3 056 715 tonnes. This is the first year of growth after a decline. According to the FAOSTAT data, since 1961, the volume of annual ceral production has increased in 4.77 times. The minimum production of grains was recorded in 1992, with a value of 608 801 tonnes. The maximum of Zambia was in 2021, when it reached 3 953 632 metric tons. Area and production data on cereals relate to crops harvested for dry grain only. Cereal crops harvested for hay or harvested green for food, feed or silage or used for grazing are therefore excluded.
